Dre’Quan Jackson is a CGM staff intern and is currently enrolled at Trenholm Community College. He is the first of his family to attend college.
He grew up in Washington Park, being raised in a single parent home with two older brothers. At the age of 10, he was introduced to CGM. Around that time it was only Bryan Kelly and Kevin King picking up kids from the community, spending time and investing in them. Throughout the years, he has spent time living with three different staff families.
At the age of 12, while on a trip to Emerald falls with CGM, he gave his life to the Lord.
"It was one of the greatest moments of my life. And when I finally got to high school I started to see a lot of things happen that impacted me in a way that I can’t explain. I lost my childhood friend at the age of 17 from a gunshot wound to the head. That was one of the hardest things I had to deal with in my life. It’s a sad reality to know that just by the neighborhood and community I’m from, it was statistically bound to happen. The lord has matured me in so many different ways. He's placed men from CGM in my life to show me that God’s love is all I need. They also showed God’s love to me by always being there and having that life-on-life relationship with me."
Program-wise, Dre’Quan is currently is heading up the middle schoolers in the Leadership Program.
