Montgomery Public Schools announced last week they would not be going back to in-class instruction when the academic year starts on August 10. Superintendent Ann Roy Moore announced last Wednesday that MPS would do virtual instruction for the first 9 weeks to help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the city.

Our after school program will adopt the following changes:

  • CGM will be a daytime hub for students in our program, and our goal will be to have them from 7 am - 3 pm

  • Students may use our computers to conduct their online academic instruction from 8 am - noon (stage 1)

  • Breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided (stage 2)

  • The program will be for 40 students

Our Pre-K program will still open on August 10th, with 18 students.

UPDATE: Language to the after school program was updated on 8/31/2020.

cgm's summer camp has started

With recent reopening attempts, and following the department of public health’s guidelines, we’ve started summer camp. We have a reduced number of participants, social distancing reminders, and have our kids wear masks indoors. It’s not the camp we hoped to have at the beginning of the year, but we always love spending time with our students.

school closures and covid-19 (coronavirus)

State superintendent Eric Mackey announced earlier today the closure of all K-12 public schools in Alabama starting March 18th.

CGM follows suit with MPS holidays and closures during the academic year. MPS will already be closed on Monday, March 16th. Starting Monday, CGM will not have any after school programs until MPS resumes a normal schedule. MPS will evaluate school openings on or around April 3rd.

UPDATE: Governor Kay Ivey cancelled the rest of the current academic school year. School officials should be getting in touch with parents regarding online approaches to finish the remainder of the academic school year. Seniors are still expected to graduate in June.

We will post updates as they become available.
